customer service.

i am working in a reputable consumer bank as a customer service officer. theroetically i am the lowest life form there but its a good learning opportunity and the pay is great. so not much complains about that. perhaps just that customers can be difficult. well, its like that everywhere as long as you are in the line of customer service.

but, interestingly i note that a particular personal banker really practice great customer service. that is she is super duper ultimately nice to the customers. yet, she is rude and curt to the greeters (oh, thats my designation). she is often snappy and will not entertain any requests from us. if we make a mistake, it will be good luck and hell day for us. well, she is the top salesperson but that does not entitle her the right to be rude to us. here are the various reasons why.

1. a little kindness goes a long way. that is BASIC COURTESY to a fellow human being. stress and whatever nots is not a good defense for being rude.

2. most of the greeters are students. she will never know when we graduate we might be her customers and then we will give her a hell of a time.

3. people under her will definitely be reluctant to help her do anything that is not under the scope of her work. and, it is actually not that difficult to backstabb her if she really get onto the toes of people and they decide to break their rice bowl.

4. she earns the reputation of being nasty which will haunt her, unless she likes having that tag on her. that i have no comments.

5. this is the last reason. i believe that the bank has this client value that talks about respecting our internal clients. internal clients here refers to fellow colleagues.

perhaps one day before i leave the office, i will sneak a brochure on kindness and courtesy on her table. something to that extent. =)
