the comfort of a home is irreplacable. it is a shelter from the materalistic world, where you can run away from the thunderstorms in life. i guess this is the reason why in chick lit, the protagonist will always return home whenever she is upset. it will always be a sanctuary where one feels protected and loved. no matter what happens, you know your family will never judge you. they will be able to find the capacity to forgive you, regardless of all the horrible things that you have done.

a family to me has a very different definition from the dicitionary. its not just someone who shares the same bloodline as me. at my very most, each of the dictionary-defined family elder, will get the most basic respect from me. but a family goes deeper than that to me. i feel indebted to people that care for me and selflessly sacrifice themselves for me. people such as my parents, certain aunts and even my grandma. they often do things for me without wanting any payback and all they wish is the best for me. no matter how much they disapprove of my decision, ultimately they will still learn to tolerate it and find the ability to support me.

i admit i do take my family for granted at times. i was showered with a "family" treatment today at my grandma's place. there is a warm and fuzzy feeling in me. its the small little things that they have done that touches my heart. like how my grandma will ask me to eat more of fish and soup, knowing that i like them a lot. there is still particular incident that i will always remember. i was at a family gathering and there was a buffet spread. in the middle of the table was one plate of food with various buffet stuff and in another was a plate of cod fish. i simply adore cod fish and i wanted a piece of it. my evil aunt asked me to take the small little mashed up pieces in the plate with various food. but somehow having ESP, a while later, my grandma asked me to take more cod fish from the plate with lotsa lotsa cod fish. it may seem small but i was really touched by it. like how much my grandma loves me.

i may seems nonchalant about things but actually i do see and observe the things they do for my sake. i am not an expressive person. there are times i want to give them a big hug but somehow i am unable to do so as i feel awkward and strange. but i really do care. i guess i need to do more for them and learn to treasure them better.

oh and i forsee a busy week. dun worry kay swee and ky. dun have to feel bad or anything. its just more of a personal choice that i want to leave. perhaps to me, job satisifaction is more important than anything. i dun wanna overwork myself and i kind of want to spend more time on school activities. i just realise that i have done nothing in the whole school year and it kind of defeats my purpose in entering smu. yup, and i will be able to find something to do. i am sorry for indirectly pouring cold water over your enthusiasm. honestly, the people are quite nice, after some interaction with them. for the moment, they convinced the cynical side of me. so as long you do your part, i think it should be quite fun. haha, work hard gals and can start counting your cash soon! =)
