moving away from the past and anticipating the future.
yes, i agree the past is important. the past mould the person i am now but spending too much time harping on the past is unhealthy. the past cause me to lose myself and i am still trying to find myself back.
in addition, memories should be kept and taken out once a while. to remember how happy we were back then and how fortunate we felt at that time. but its never to be used to deprive one of future happiness and take away the joy we deserve to enjoy, after all the trials and tribulations that one have gone through. in short, memories are not suppose to hold you back. its suppose to stay in a corner of your brain like a box of old photographs, where time to time you take it out and smile at the silly things ya have done.
looking back, i realise how foolish i was to persistantly hold on memories, like holding on to one lousy, deflated float, when there are numerous inflated floats around me. it seems as though i will drown if i let go. i should have been brave enough to let go of the float as there are other better floats around.
moreover, people do change. the memories are insufficient to make up for the changes. once a person change, their feelings, behaviour and attitude towards things are different. they are no longer the person that you grew to love and once love. most importantly, you might not even like the new person at all. why do you have to make things difficult for yourself by forcefully attempting to accept something that does not fit you at all. something that will never complement you again.
i am glad i let go of all these excess baggage long ago. i am looking forward to the bright future ahead of me. =)
