hee, tml is FA exam. and yes, i know i should start studying now, but let me blog for a while. and its raining outside so tempting to sleep again! =(
this morning was damn crap! slept at 4.30am and i kind of woke up at 10am. no idea why i get up so early, when the last 2 days, i have been waking early to study. replied a few smses and then i went back to sleep again.
and abt 2 hours later, my bro attempted to wake me up. i refused to and guess wat? like a little kid that needs pacifying, he tempted me with a movie. he was like " wake up lar. watch movie with me. very nice show!!!" haha i kind of ignored him and no idea why, i got up 10 mins later, drag myself into the living room and watched the movie with him. haha, i know ya guys are gonna nag at me, tml exam still watch tv. wanna die arh. but i cannot help it lar. damn brain-dead. and i watched the whole movie man. it was a great movie.
the movie is "pay it forward" starring haley joel osment (the little boy in the sixth sense), kevin spacy and helen hunt. yup, so in the movie, haley was this little boy called trevor and he had a complicated family background. he lives with his mum (helen hunter), who is an alcolohlic on recovery and kevin spacy is his social science teacher.
one day, his teacher gave an assignment asking the students to think of one idea on how they can change the world and put this idea to action. after much thought he came up with this idea, where he will help 3 people do something. not just do something simple like helping your neighbour buy milk. do something good for 3 people, which will make an impact on their lifes. in return, he tells each of the 3 pple that benefitted to do the same of another 3 people. and this will be known as "paying it forward". it relies on the goodness of people to relay this down as there were no strings attached.
in the midst of doing this assignment, trevor changed his mum and his social science teacher. he gave them a helping hand to fall in love and change their outlook of life. in addition, trevor helped them faced issues which has been hidden in the closet or in simple, faced their life bravely.
so to summarise, trevour's "pay it forward" plan did work and people were extending their helping hands to total strangers. these examples include stopping a woman from committing sucide, helping a gangster ran away from the police and the gangster in return helped a lawyer saved his daughter from an asthma attack. while doing so, he got caught by the police and was jailed.
a reporter benefitted from the "pay it forward" plan and went to uncover the truth. yup, so trevor get his interview and everything. unfortunately, after the interview, he got stabbed to death by a bully as he choose not to mind his own business and save a classmate from being beaten up.
well, after watching the show, i began to seriously think that life is REALLY unfair. ya may say it only a show. but do we seriously think that the evil and wicked will get their retribution and the good will always be repaid. and in context to the show, trevor will not have died as he was doing good. maybe we are brought up to believe in this. but think about this, there are times where the wicked gets their deserts but could it be just a mere coincidence? coz there are others that got away after doing really evil stuff. like how serial killers that are not caught and rapists that are never found.
and people who truly do good never wants to be repaid. they do it for the sake of wanting to help others. they do it as they are aware of how fortunate they are in comparison of others and how unfair the world is. these things happen for a reason and not just one fine day, we are bored and decide to help others. maybe that's why we often feel uncomfortable with others doing a big favour for us. not just some small favours like helping you get tea but big stuff that impacts your world. perhaps that's why the concept in this show comes about where we "pay it forward" so that the favour you get is not entirely free. and you feel better from getting the favour.
haha, i think i may sound confusing again. haha... try to absorb as much as you can!!! =)
i am back to FA!!! *sigh*
